It is used with varying contents in places which are present in different types and structures of industry and require high technical properties such as high temperature, pressure resistance, high strength, frictional resistance and sound insulation.
 
In addition to providing high tensile strength for the foam it is added onto, the non-woven product also ensures properties such as abrasion resistance, impermeability and combustion resistance. In some applications, it is used alone as a sealing gasket. Some of its types are also used to filter liquids; the filter felts of these types can be used many times since they can be washed.
 
Particles of various sizes can be filtered very easily when the correct weigh, thickness and pore structure is selected for filtration applications. It is used very frequently in dust filters of vacuum cleaners.
 
While industrial felts are generally produced with the needle method, many felts which are produced with the pressing method are indispensable insulation materials for the industry. They have polyester, cotton, geotextile and phenolic types. Phenolic felts used in the automotive and major appliance industries can be shaped and produced two or three dimensionally. These products with high heat resistance are also good sound insulation materials.
 
In some types, phenol added to the structure makes them resistant to flames and they can be shaped easily with heat. Phenolic felts are widely used in the automotive industry due to their structure that is suitable for shaping with heat.
